HubStation

  1. What is a HubStation?
    The HubStation is an enhanced set-top box with an inbuilt hard disk which can digitally record about 80 hours of programmes. The dual tuner function also allows users to watch one channel and record another channel at the same time. In addition, users will get to enjoy the Smart TV service at no additional cost, which allows you to have more control over your TV viewing and enjoy hassle-free recording via the On-screen TV guide.

    The HubStation also comes with an inbuilt DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem that provides two-way interactivity, where viewers can send SMS to other viewers via TV. HubStation users will also get to enjoy Free 1MbpsBroadband Internet Access, an internet access service via the inbuilt cable modem that will be free till 31 December 2012.

    Existing Digital Voice Home customers will also be able to use the Digital Voice services with the Free 1MbpsBroadband Internet Access.

    Users will also get to enjoy automatic and free software upgrades through the network to enhance the Smart TV features.

  2. How much is the rental of HubStation?
    The HubStation is available for rent at $8.56 (with 7% GST) per month The rates are applicable to StarHub TV customers subscribed to a minimum of 3 Basic Groups.
    Please note that for any request for additional set-top box, an ‘Additional Screen’ monthly charge of $8.56 per set-top box will apply on top of the prevailing set-top box rental charge.

  3. What is the difference between HubStation and your normal set-top box?
    The HubStation allows customers to access the Smart TV service in addition to the functionalities of the digital set-top box such as the On-Screen TV Guide, Video Mosaic and Info Bar.

  1. How many hours of recording will the HubStation have?
    The HubStation has the capacity to record about 80 hours of programmes. The number of hours may vary depending on the type of programmes recorded.

  2. Where can I find the remaining hours left for recording?
    The total remaining hours left for recording is displayed at the bottom of the Recording Schedule, Record by Show and the Record by Time pages. However, do note that the remaining hours may vary based on the types of programmes recorded.

  3. I do not have two-way signals at my premises. Can I still sign up for the Smart TV service?
    Yes, you may still sign up for the Smart TV service and enjoy all recording features. However, your inbuilt cable modem will not be activated and you would not be able to enjoy the Free 1Mbps Broadband Internet Access and two-way interactivity features such as Start Over, Catch Up TV and access to Video-On-Demand.

  4. How can I check if my address is cable ready with two-way signal?
    You may visit StarHub’s website www.starhub.com/support/tv and click on “Cable Ready Status” under Facts. Enter your postal code to find out the "cable ready" status of your home.

  5. Does the HubStation support High Definition TV (HDTV)?
    No. The HubStation is designed to support standard definition TV broadcasts and it does not support HDTV broadcasts. Hence, it will only record and display programmes on standard definition.

  6. Can the HubStation support HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface)?
    No. The HubStation cannot support HDMI.
