  1. What is Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS)?
    Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) allows you to send and receive multimedia messages comprising a combination of text, images, sound and even video clips.
  2. 2. What is the difference between SMS and MMS?
    SMS allows you to send and receive text messages only. With MMS, you can send and receive messages comprising a combination of text, images, sound and even video clips.
  3. Who can enjoy MMS?
    All StarHub Mobile Post-paid and GREEN Prepaid customers who are holding MMS-enabled phones and have activated the MMS service can enjoy the service.
  4. How do I activate the MMS service on StarHub Mobile Postpaid or GREEN Prepaid service?
    For StarHub Mobile Post-paid customers
    • To activate MMS on your StarHub Mobile Post-paid service, simply call our Customer Care Consultants at 1633 or visit any StarHub Customer Service Centre if you do not already have a GPRS plan.
    • o If you have a GPRS plan, the MMS service has been automatically activated for you. All you need to do is to configure your phone. The phone configuration instructions can be found here
    For GREEN Prepaid customers
    • To send and receive MMS on your GREEN Prepaid service, you would need to activate Prepaid Gee! and configure your mobile phone.
    • To activate Prepaid Gee!, key in *110# and <SEND>. Alternatively, you may call our Customer Care Consultants at 1633 for assistance.
    • To configure your mobile phone online.
      You can configure your phone by keying in <S> space <phone model> and send to 2000 (e.g. For Sony Ericsson K750i, key in S K750i). For Nokia phones, key in <S> space <N> <phone model> and send to 2000 (e.g. for Nokia 3230, key in S N3230)
  5. What can I do with StarHub's MMS service?
    You can
    • Send MMS to your friend's mobile phones*
    • Send MMS to your friend's email addresses
    • Download MMS Animations/Wallpapers onto your mobile phone
    • Send and receive MMS while overseas with MMS Roaming
    • Send an overseas friend a Global MMS
    *If your friend does not have a supported MMS handset, he will receive an SMS notification directing him to view the MMS via web at his operator's MMS retrieval centre.
  6. What is the difference between MMS Roaming and Global MMS?
    MMS Roaming refers to the sending or receiving of MMS while you are in an overseas destination and logged on to an overseas operator that supports MMS Roaming Service on your StarHub Mobile service.

    Global MMS refers to the sending of MMS to an international number, e.g. to a friend in Hong Kong who is using a Hong Kong mobile service provider which supports receiving MMS sent from StarHub.
  7. If I am currently an MMS subscriber and I switch to a non-MMS phone, will I still be able to receive MMS?
    You will receive a SMS notification that directs you to our MMS Retrieval Centre to view the MMS via the web.
  8. If I am currently a StarHub non-MMS subscriber, how can I receive an MMS sent to me?
    You will receive a SMS notification that directs you to our MMS Retrieval Centre to view the MMS via the web.

    Please note that you will need to retrieve the message within 2 days or else it will expire.
  9. What are the charges if I send an MMS to my friend who is using StarHub, M1, or SingTel mobile phone service?
    Regardless of the local service provider your friend is using, the MMS sent from your StarHub Mobile service will be charged as follows:
    • 5.35¢ (StarHub Mobile Post-paid), 30¢ (Prepaid) per MMS sent (< 30kb)
    • 5.35¢ (StarHub Mobile Post-paid), 80¢ (Prepaid) per MMS sent (> 30kb)*

    *Maximum MMS size supported is currently 300kb

    For a promotional period till 31 December 2012, you can also enjoy sending your MMS from StarHub Mobile Postpaid service at low flat rate of 5.35¢/MMS regardless of the size of your MMS sent.

    As a StarHub Mobile Post-paid customer, you can also enjoy Free SMS to MMS conversion where you can utilise your free SMS bundle to send out MMS for free.

    Do note that this Free SMS to MMS conversion is not available on GREEN prepaid (i.e. you cannot convert your free SMS you enjoy from every top up value to free MMS).
  10. What are the charges if I send an MMS to my friends' email addresses?
    The same charges apply, if you send an MMS to your friends’ email addresses:
    • 5.35¢ (StarHub Mobile Post-paid), 30¢ (Prepaid) per MMS sent (< 30kb)
    • 5.35¢ (StarHub Mobile Post-paid), 80¢ (Prepaid) per MMS sent (> 30kb)*
  11. What are the charges if I send an MMS while roaming overseas?
    • 32.1¢ (StarHub Mobile Postpaid), 30¢ (GREEN Prepaid) per MMS sent (< 30kb).
    • 85.6¢ (StarHub Mobile Postpaid), 80¢ (GREEN Prepaid) per MMS sent (< 30kb)*

      *Maximum MMS size supported is currently 300kb.

      In addition, overseas operators' GPRS charges may apply.
      Maximum supported size per MMS sent is dependent on overseas operators and your handset capability.
  12. What are the charges if I send a Global MMS?
    • 30¢ (StarHub Mobile Postpaid), 30¢ (GREEN Prepaid) per MMS sent (< 30kb).
    • 80¢ (StarHub Mobile Postpaid), 80¢ (GREEN Prepaid) per MMS sent (< 30kb)*

      *Maximum MMS size supported is currently 300kb.
  13. When I send and receive MMS, will I also incur GPRS usage charges?
    No, you will not incur GPRS charges when you send and receive MMS locally.

    However, please note that when you send and receive MMS while roaming, overseas operators' GPRS charges may apply. In addition, do note that the maximum supported size per MMS sent/received is dependent on overseas operators and your handset capability.
  14. How do I configure my phone for MMS?
    You can configure your phone through an easy-to-use, web-based service.
  15. 15. I just bought a phone that has the MMS function. How do I know whether it has already been configured for StarHub's MMS service?
    Please go to your phone's Multimedia Message Settings and ensure that the active multimedia setting is "StarHub MMS".
    In addition, please go to “Services Settings” and check that the active service setting is "Gee! GPRS".
  16. Can I send/receive MMS to/from SingTel and M1 customers?
    Yes.
  17. If an inter-operator MMS problem is encountered, should both the sender and receiver feedback to their respective operator?
    It is recommended that the sender feedback to his/her operator providing details such as mobile number of the sender and recipient, date & time which MMS was sent, and the phone models used.
  18. Why can't I receive MMS from SingTel or M1 customers?
    It may be due to one of the following reasons:
    • You SingTel or M1 friend may have sent you an MMS which is bigger than what your phone supports.
    • Your MMS phone is not configured or incorrectly configured. Configure your phone now.
    • Your mobile phone had been switched off for more than 2 days.
    • Your phone could have failed to retrieve the message due to a technical problem with the phone.
    • Your SingTel or M1 friend may have sent you MMS content with a file name containing unsupported characters. Please advise your friend to re-name the file and resend to you. File names should only contain characters such as a-z or 0-9. File names must be single word. For e.g. the file cannot be "Tin Cup" with a space in between the two words. .
  19. Why do I experience delays in receiving MMS from SingTel or M1 customers?
    It may be due to one of the following reasons:
    • Your phone was not found in the network (e.g. switched off or out of coverage) when the system tried to send the message to you.
    • Message retrieval could be disrupted by an incoming call, low battery or being out of coverage.
  20. If I am overseas, can I send/receive MMS to/from SingTel or M1 customers who are also overseas?
    Yes, as long as both parties are logged on to the mobile operator in the overseas destinations which support MMS roaming.

  21. I received the following MMS message "You have received MMS contents which your phone does not support. You will receive an SMS notification shortly to inform you to view the MMS from our MMS Retrieval Centre at www.starhub.com/mmsretrieval". Why is this so?
    If your friend sends you an MMS and your phone cannot support all the contents of the MMS (e.g. your friend sends you a video MMS and your phone does not support video), the MMS will be forwarded to our MMS Retrieval Centre so that you can view it via the web. Simply check the SMS notification for the MsgID and Password and go to www.starhub.com/mmsretrieval to view.
  22. I am getting only parts of the MMS message my friend sent me and a SMS notification. What happened to the rest of the message?
    Your friend has sent you an MMS containing some contents which your phone cannot support. Hence your phone will only display the contents it can support. For example, your friend sends you a video MMS accompanied by text and your phone does not support video. Your phone will only display the text as an MMS but the video clip will not be shown since your phone cannot support it.

    However, to view the entire MMS, you can view it at our MMS Retrieval Centre. Simply check the SMS notification for the MsgID and Password and go to www.starhub.com/mmsretrieval to view.
  23. What is the maximum number of recipients I can send to?
    You can send to a maximum of 50 recipients.
  24. I'm using GREEN Prepaid service. Can I send/receive MMS when I'm overseas?
    Yes. In countries which support Prepaid Roaming and MMS roaming, you will be able to send and receive MMS. Please note that GPRS charges may be applicable.

    Kindly ensure that you have activated Prepaid Gee!/MMS service and Prepaid Roaming on your GREEN Prepaid before you go overseas.
