SSID Configuration

How to configure SSID/network name?

Linksys Wireless Network PC Card

To get started, please ensure that you have completed the Drivers and Software installation of the Linksys Wireless Network PC Card

Launch the Linksys program as shown in figure below. Generally, this program can be launched from Programs menu that appears after you click the Windows Start button.

Select the Profiles tab and follow steps d-j
On the Profiles screen click the New button to create a new profile
Name the profile as StarHub Wireless and click OK

Under Choose a net type select Infrastructure Mode
Enter the SSID as ACCESS-StarHub click Next

Under Network Setting select Obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP) Click Next

Under Security Settings choose Disabled for WEP and leave the rest of the fields blank

Choose Yes to confirm the settings

Choose Activate new setting now, launch your Internet Browser to start surfing

Cisco Aironet 350

To get started, please ensure that you have completed the installation of the Drivers and Aironet Client Utility for the Cisco Aironet 350 card

Launch the Aironet Client Utility as shown in figure below. Generally, this utility can be launched from Programs menu that appears after you click the Windows Start button

Select the Profile Manager icon and follow steps d-j

To create a new connection profile click on the Add button

Name the profile as StarHub Wireless and click Apply

Under System Parameters tab, key in ACCESS-StarHub as the SSID and under Network Type select Infrastructure

Select the Network Security tab
Under Network Security Type select None
Under WEP select No WEP
Click OK to save the settings

Under Use Selected Profile, select StarHub Wireless and click on OK button to complete the configuration

From the Aironet Client Utility dialog box, click on the Status Icon to view your connection status

You are now successfully associate to the wireless access point StarHubWireless Broadband Hub, launch your Internet Browser to start surfing

Orinoco Silver / Gold Wireless Card

To get started, please ensure you have completed the installation of the Drivers and the Wireless Client Manager utility for the Orinoco card

Launch the Wireless Client Manager utility as below. Generally, this utility can be launched from Programs menu that appears after you click the Windows Start button

From the Actions drop down menu, click on Add/Edit Configuration Profile and follow steps d-k to create the StarHub Wireless profile

Click on the Add button

Enter the Profile Name as StarHub Wireless and select Access Point as the Network Type
Click Next to continue

Enter ACCESS-StarHub as the Network Name (i.e. SSID)
Click Next to continue

Leave Enable Data Security blank
Click Next to continue

Keep the default setting (i.e. Off) for Power Management
Click Next to continue

Enable the option to Renew IP Address when selecting this profile
Click Finish to complete the configuration

At your Laptop taskbar you will see the Orinoco Wireless Signal Indication bar

Nokia D211 Wireless Card

To get started, please ensure you have completed the installation of the Drivers and the Wireless

Client Manager utility for the Nokia

Launch the Nokia D211 program as shown in figure below. Generally, this program can be launched from Programs menu that appears after you click the Windows Start button

Click Next to continue

Select WLAN connection
Click Next to continue

Select Infrastructure
Under Network name (i.e. SSID) enter ACCESS-StarHub

Under TCP/IP Settings leave blank

Click Finish to confirm settings

Select StarHub Wireless and click OK
