What is Basic Tier?

With effect from 1 September 2013, StarHub TV Basic Group will be enhanced with channels from Basic Upsize group to form the new StarHub Basic Tier. The monthly subscription of the new Basic Tier will be based on number of Basic Tiers subscribed.

For instance, a customer who is currently subscribed to 3 Basic and Basic Upsize groups will have to pay a monthly subscription charge of $31 (before GST), of which $26 for 3 Basic Group and $5 for Basic Upsize.

For your convenience, you can use our self-help service to check the status of StarHub's broadband network cable signals in your estate. Upon confirmation of the availability of the signals in your home, you can start subscribing to StarHub TV, Digital Voice and MaxOnline.

2. Why is StarHub making this change in subscription?

Basic Upsize has been very well received by many StarHub TV customers as an affordable top-up option. Customers can enjoy as many as 20 channels from $5.35 per month.

To simplify our offerings, the entry level package for all StarHub TV subscription will be defaulted to the new Basic Tier from 1 September 2013.

Existing Basic Group Customers

1. I am currently subscribed to Basic Group only. How will I be affected by this latest change?

All StarHub TV customers will be defaulted to the new Basic Tier from 1 September 2013 onwards.

For customers with an active StarHub TV contract signed before 25 August 2013, you will be able to enjoy the additional channels offered under Basic Upsize Group (depending on the genre of the Basic Group you have subscribed to) from 1 September 2013 onwards. Customers will not experience any change in their subscription for the duration of their active contract. Upon expiry of the contract, the new Basic Tier prevailing subscription will apply.

2. Can I remain on my Basic Group subscription after 1 September 2013?

The enhanced StarHub TV Basic Tier will be StarHub’s entry subscription package and this will apply to all new and existing customers starting from 1 September 2013. Hence, Basic Group will no longer be offered after 1 September 2013.

3. Why do I only enjoy the rate protection discount on my Basic Group for a specific period?

As you currently have an active StarHub TV contract, your current subscription charge will remain unchanged for the duration of your contract.

4. How can I check if I have a StarHub TV contract?

You may check your contract expiry via My Account.

5. What happens if I have used my Rewards points to redeem Basic Group before 1 September 2013?

If you have made redemption(s) for your Basic Group prior to 1 September 2013, the discount values (based on the current monthly subscription of Basic Group) will still be applied on the enhanced Basic Tier subscription from 1 September 2013.

6. I am currently enjoying discounts on my Basic Group. What will happen to my discounts after 1 September 2013?

You will continue to enjoy your Basic Group discounts.

7. What are the additional channels I can enjoy from 1 September 2013?

You can enjoy the channels in the table below from 1 September 2013.

Existing Basic Upsize Customers

1. I am currently enjoying Basic Upsize discounts. What will happen to my discounts after 1 September 2013?

You will continue to enjoy your Basic Upsize discounts.

2. I am currently subscribed to Basic Upsize. How am I affected by the latest changes?

With effect from 1 September 2013, StarHub TV Basic Group will be enhanced with channels from Basic Upsize Group to form the new StarHub Basic Tier. As an existing Basic Upsize Group customer, you will not experience any change to your subscription rates. On your subsequent bill from September onwards, your subscription charge will be reflected as ‘Basic Tier’ instead.

3. What happens if I have used my Rewards points to redeem for Basic Plus before 1 September 2013?

All redemptions for Basic Plus items will not be affected by this change.

4. I am currently subscribed to Basic Upsize. Can I downgrade my Basic Upsize Group after 1 September 2013?

The enhanced StarHub TV Basic Tier will be StarHub’s entry subscription package and this will apply to all new and existing customers starting from 1 September 2013. Hence, Basic Group will no longer be offered after 1 September 2013.
