D-Link Router Security Alert

Dear Home Broadband Customers

StarHub has been notified by D-Link that some of its cloud router models, including the DIR-850L, DIR-865L and DIR-868L, are found to contain security vulnerabilities.

To secure your routers, we strongly encourage you to download the relevant firmware updates at the D-Link official website: www.dlink.com.sg/.

As a further preventive measure against malicious network intrusions, it is important to set a strong router password using a mix of numbers, letters and symbols.

Malware-Alert

 

Dear Customers

StarHub has been notified by IDA SingCERT about the Gameover Zeus and CryptoLocker malicious software. The malware encrypts affected users’ information and demands a ransom from the users in order to decrypt the files. Infected systems could be used to send spam, participate in distributed denial of service attacks, or cause users to lose sensitive data, such as usernames, passwords and banking information.

As you may not realise that you have been affected by malware, we strongly encourage you to check your computers by running an anti-malware scan. Apart from ensuring that you have a reputable and updated security solution for your devices, please be wary of opening spam emails and clicking on links from unknown senders. It is also important to back up your important files regularly.
