1. What activities is StarHub conducting during this HetNet Trial @ JLD?

StarHub has deployed a combination of macro base stations and small cells integrated with both cellular and Wi-Fi in and around the Jurong Lake Distric to test the seamless handover between different wireless technologies. The Jurong Lake District HetNet trial is a closed trial but StarHub has opened up a section of the trial circuit within Jurong East MRT station (level 1 concourse + food court) for StarHub Mobile customers to experience first-hand the benefits of HetNet.

 

2. What benefits can customers expect?

Small cells enhance coverage and soak up any surge in mobile traffic, increasing total network capacity. This means that our network will be able to provide customers with superior mobile data experience even in areas with high human traffic.Customers can move seamlessly between network technologies without any degradation in data throughput and service performance.

 

3. How can customers get started?

No action is required for customers who want to experience the cellular aspects of StarHub’s HetNet. To try out the seamless switching between cellular and Wi-Fi, customers just need do a one-time configuration on their phone. Step-by-step instructions are available at starhub.com/hetnet

4. What benefits can customers expect?

If you are a StarHub customer on a 4G device, you are already experiencing the enhancements to your mobile service through HetNet when you are in the Marina Bay area. In Jurong East MRT station (level 1 concourse + food court) not only can StarHub Mobile customers experience enhanced coverage with our small cells but they can also try out the seamless switching between cellular and Wi-Fi by following instructions at starhub.com/hetnet

 

5. How long will the Jurong Lake District HetNet trial be?

The trial will end on 30 June 2016
