Foreign Number

  1. What is Foreign Number service?
    Foreign Number service is a Value-Added Service for StarHub Mobile post-paid customers which provides you with the local number of an overseas destination. Callers in the same country/city as your Foreign Number can contact you in Singapore, bypassing expensive IDD call charges. For example, if you have a USA Foreign Number, your friends and families pay only local airtime charges when they call you from USA.
  2. If I receive an incoming call on my Foreign Number, what are the call charges?
    There are 2 components to the call charges - Foreign Number usage charge, and local incoming airtime charge. For a limited period, Foreign Number usage charge is free and most StarHub Mobile plans offers you free incoming calls. Hence, there will be no charges for receiving calls through the Foreign Number.
  3. What are the charges incurred by the callers if they call my Foreign Number?
    If the callers are based in the same country/city as your Foreign Number, they will only pay local outgoing call charges.
  4. Can I use the Foreign Number service for outgoing overseas call?
    No, Foreign Number service is only meant for incoming overseas calls to you.Prevailing IDD rates apply for outgoing overseas calls.
  5. Foreign Number service is available in which countries?
    At launch, Foreign Number service will be available in 16 destinations, namely – Australia (Melbourne), Australia (Perth), Australia (Sydney), Canada, Demark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, USA (Los Angeles), USA (New York) & USA (San Francisco). We will review the list and increase the number of destinations at a later date. Please visit the website for latest information.
  6. How many Foreign Numbers can I apply for?
    You can apply for up to 5 Foreign Numbers per mobile line. That means if you have 3 main lines, you can apply for up to 15 Foreign Numbers.
  7. Must all my 5 Foreign Numbers be from the same country?
    No, you can choose from different countries. For example, you can choose 2 Foreign Numbers in USA and 3 Foreign Numbers in Australia.
  8. When I port my StarHub Mobile number to another service provider, can I keep my Foreign Number?
    No. The Foreign Number service will be terminated when you port your StarHub Mobile number to another service provider.
  9. Can I use my Foreign Number service while overseas?
    If you have subscribed to International Roaming or Pay-As-You-Roam service, you will be able to receive calls through your Foreign Number when you are overseas.
  10. Will I incur roaming charges if I receive a call on my Foreign Number while overseas?
    Yes, if you are overseas, there will be incoming roaming call charges for calls on your Foreign Number. For example, if you receive a call on your Foreign Number while in Malaysia, you will be charge for the incoming roaming voice call rate in Malaysia.
  11. Can I receive Video Calls or SMS on my Foreign Number?
    No, Foreign Number Service is only applicable with voice calls.
  12. Is Foreign Number service applicable with all mobile plans?
    Yes, all StarHub Mobile postpaid voice plans, except for SharePlus dependant plans, are applicable for Foreign Number Value-Added Service.
  13. Can my friend in overseas send me an SMS?
    You would not be able to receive any SMS, as Foreign Number service is only available for voice calls.
  14. Will there be any error message should my friend send me an SMS?
    No error message will be shown.
  15. For calls through my Foreign Number, will the caller’s phone number be displayed on my mobile phone?
    This is dependent on the respective overseas operators. If the overseas operator blocks the information, the caller’s phone number will not be displayed
  16. With the Itemised Billing service, will incoming calls through my Foreign Number be reflected on my bill?
    Yes, the calls received will be reflected in your Itemised Bill. However, if the overseas operators block the caller’s information, the caller’s phone number will be omitted in your bill.
  17. I believe I have received nuisance calls on my Foreign Number and my mobile phone does not display the caller’s phone number. Would StarHub find out who is the caller?
    No, as the caller’s information is likely to have been blocked by the overseas operators, we will not be able to identify the caller.
  18. I have received nuisance calls on my Foreign Number. What can I do to stop this?
    You can opt to change your Foreign Number, subject to an administrative charge.          
  19. Can Foreign Number service be used together with my MultiSIM or The OneSIM service?
    Yes, it can.
