Singapore, 2 August 2018 – In celebration of Singapore’s 53rd birthday, StarHub is honouring the can-do and never-give-up Singapore spirit by shining the spotlight on five inspiring Singaporeans. Through these five #TogetherWeCan stories, StarHub hopes to rally all to help them achieve what they have set out to do.

The five personalities come from diverse backgrounds, each trying their best to hurdle different sets of challenges. The first instalment of the series features Team Lead of GoSpace Mr Lim Seng, who is seeking contributions to realise his dream of launching the first Singaporean to space next year. Due to bad weather, GoSpace’s earlier launch in May 2018 was postponed.

“The mission to space has not been an easy journey. But I will persevere, because I believe I have other Singaporeans in this journey with me. #TogetherWeCan as an initiative vindicates that belief. We will prove that what seems impossible can be achieved, when we come together as one,” said Mr Lim.

Like Mr Lim, professional tennis player Ms Sarah Pang aims to make a mark in the global arena and place Singapore on the world map. Ms Pang’s goal is to represent Singapore in the Women’s Tennis Association circuit in spite of the challenges that come her way.

The three other personalities have been actively working to help improve the lives of people in their community: Founder of SDI Academy Mr Sazzad Hossain who provides basic English education to help migrant workers adapt to Singapore and reduce workplace accidents; Artist and Creator of the Ai Movement Mr Peter Draw, who uses his art to spread happiness and inspire children to follow their dreams; and social worker of Care Corner’s CROSSROAD Youth Centre Mr Joel Seah, who guides the youth and teaches them skills that they need to excel in life.

Pledging support for these causes is easy. StarHub customers can simply redeem 53 StarHub Rewards Points and StarHub will contribute $5 to the desired cause.

“StarHub is in the business of connecting people and this National Day, we want to promote togetherness and encourage all to help fellow Singaporeans achieve their dreams,” said Mr Donovan Kik, Vice President, Segment & Marketing, StarHub. “The five Singaporeans embody the can-do spirit and we hope their stories of resilience will inspire many others. We are heartened by the positive response received so far and hope to drive home the message that as long as we try, we can achieve much more.”

The five stories were shared on StarHub’s Facebook page starting 23 July 2018, culminating in a video which portrays the challenges the five have had to overcome while pursuing their dreams. Over a span of 10 days, the posts have garnered close to 60,000 reactions.

#TogetherWeCan is the fifth instalment in a line of National Day campaigns by StarHub. Earlier viral hits include “Majulah Moms”, a heartfelt rendition of “Majulah Singapura” performed by mothers, and “Home by Homes” starring talents from voluntary welfare organisations.

As part of the National Day celebrations, StarHub TV customers will enjoy free viewing of over 140 channels from 8 August noon to 13 August noon. In addition, StarHub is offering customers up to $253 off selected phone models as a limited time promotion.
