The Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is developed to succeed today’s predominant Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) addressing system. The current IPv4 is predicted to have exhausted its addresses and IPv6 has been introduced to provide an almost limitless address space. Using 128 bit addresses , the IPv6 is able to accommodate up to 340 undecillion (2128) IP addresses. By comparison, IPv4 contains just around 4.3 billion IPs. Furthermore, the benefits of IPv6 include newer and more efficient internet capabilities, leading to greater productivity and an improved customer experience.
In line with the industry-standard technologies, StarHub has a full suite of IPv6 solutions available for ensuring a smooth adoption from IPv4 to IPv6. With our IPv6 Dual-Stack* solutions, users are able to enjoy seamless accessibility on both IPv4 and IPv6 internet protocols.
