Directory Enquiry Service FAQs

Since 1st January 2004, StarHub had revised the call rates for StarHub's 100 Directory Enquiry Service. For calls made from fixed lines, the rate will be changed from 80 cents (exclude GST) per successful call to 60 cents (exclude GST). For calls made from mobile phones, the rate will be changed from 80 cents (exclude GST) to 70 cents (exclude GST).

  1. What will the new rates be for StarHub's Directory Enquiry service?
    Each successful enquiry will be charged 60 cents (exclude GST) for calls made from fixed lines and 70 cents (exclude GST) cents for calls made from mobile phones.

  2. What was the previous rate for StarHub's Directory Enquiry service?
    The previous rate was 80 cents (exclude GST).

  3. Are there other charges to the Directory Enquiry service?
    No, there are no other charges. If you need help in connecting to your requested telephone number, there will be additional charge of 20 cents (exclude GST).

  4. What is the reason for the rate revision?
    We listened to the feedback given by our customers and had decided to revise the rates. Please be assured that we will continue to provide quality and value-for-money services for our customers.

  5. How much are overseas operators charging for the same service?
    In overseas markets, the pricing of directory assistance services varies from operator to operator, and from country to country. NTT of Japan charges between 90 cents and S$2.20 per call while BT charges S$1.10 per call.

  6. What are the alternative directory enquiry and assistance services available?
    There are other existing directory search tools which are easily available on the Internet. You can check any listed telephone number via the Internet Yellow Pages (www.yellowpages.com.sg), eGuide Singapore (www.eguide.com.sg), or the Greenbook (www.thegreenbook.com.sg or CD-ROM).

Alternatively, phonebooks are distributed free-of-charge to all fixed- line subscribers.

Mobile customers who subscribe to StarHub's Gee! service are able to access fixed line listings through GPRS connectivity if their mobile phone supports it.
