Special SG50 Commemorative Award: Star of the Stars

Singapore, 7 September 2015 – TVB fans can start voting for their favourite artistes, characters, dramas and more, as the StarHub TVB Awards 2015 kicks off a six week-long voting campaign today, with the release of its full list of nominations. The sixth edition of this prestigious Awards Presentation will be held at the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) on 24 October 2015. In celebration of Singapore’s Jubilee year, a special commemorative award—Star of the Stars—will be presented to one deserving TVB artiste. This would be in recognition of the artiste’s ability to forge a strong emotional connection with Singaporean audiences throughout the years across multiple roles that span his or her acting career.

"The Star of the Stars recognises the strong bond between TVB and Singaporean audiences," highlighted Ms Jeannie Ong, Chief Strategic Partnership Officer of StarHub. "Over the years, there have been so many memorable characters portrayed by these exceptional artistes, who have captured the hearts of audiences here. It will be our honour to present this coveted accolade to one very special artiste for the first time ever, as part of our Jubilee celebrations."

The star-studded StarHub TVB Awards 2015 which recognises and honours the best in Hong Kong television, features a total of 15 awards categories with 12 open for public voting. The public can cast their votes via www.starhubtvbawards.com from today until 20 October 2015. All voters will stand a chance to win one of the 15 pairs of tickets (worth $216 each pair) to the StarHub TVB Awards 2015.

Eye in the Sky, a crime thriller that stars Kevin Cheng, Tavia Yeung and Ruco Chan, and Ghost of Relativity, a supernatural romantic comedy featuring Moses Chan, Nancy Wu and Kristal Tin, lead with a total of eight nominations each. Established artistes such as Linda Chung, Liza Wang, Kevin Cheng and Wayne Lai continue to feature prominently in the highly-coveted My Favourite TVB Actress and My Favourite TVB Actor  awards categories, while fresh faces Grace Chan, Vincent Wong and Ivana Wong will join other artistes in vying for the My Favourite TVB Actress, My Favourite TVB Actor and My Favourite TVB Supporting Actress awards.

In line with this year’s theme: “Walk Down Memory Lane”, StarHub TVB Awards 2015 will showcase elements of the best memories of TVB productions spanning from the 1970s to present time. Having entertained Singaporean audiences over the past decades, Hong Kong’s leading broadcaster TVB and longstanding partner StarHub have joined hands to celebrate Singapore’s Golden Jubilee in an even bigger way. As part of the Jubilee’s celebrations, fans can enjoy monthly engagement activities as well as exhibitions displaying iconic costumes and props from some of TVB’s best-known productions, leading up to the Awards Presentation in October.

Commenting on the upcoming Awards Presentation, Ms Ong added, “StarHub TVB Awards is one of StarHub’s flagship entertainment events. It not only serves to honour the best in Hong Kong television, it also represents a special bond and longstanding partnership between StarHub and TVB, with both companies coming together to put up a spectacular show for fans every year. This year, audiences can look forward to special tribute segments during the Awards Presentation - a timely round up to our Singapore's Jubilee celebrations. These segments will certainly evoke a sense of nostalgia and will be a lovely walk down memory lane for fans as they reminisce on some of the best moments in TVB productions."

The awards presentation will commence with TVB artistes arriving for the Red Carpet at 5pm, which will be held at the MBS skating rink for the first time. It will be followed by the Awards Presentation which will be held at The Grand Theatre at 7.45pm.  Viewers can catch a telecast of the StarHub TVB Awards 2015 one week later on 31 October via TVB First (StarHub TV Channel 860) in its original language, which will feature some artistes speaking in Cantonese at this Awards Presentation for the first time. The production will also be made available in Mandarin on VV Drama (StarHub TV Channel 855) and E City (StarHub TV Channel 111/825) on 7 November and 14 November respectively.
