Singapore, 29 July 2014 – Anime fans will be able to watch their favourite programmes to their hearts’ content with the launch of a new 24/7 high definition anime channel ANIPLUS HD on StarHub TV Channel 529 and StarHub TV Anywhere on 31 July 2014, 9am. The channel will screen both top-rated Japanese anime adapted from best-selling manga as well as original anime productions within two weeks of the original Japan telecast. All titles will run in Japanese with English subtitles.

To give customers a taste of the channel, a free preview will be held from launch to 1 September 2014. Subsequently, an on-demand channel ANIPLUS HD On Demand will launch on StarHub TV Channel 530 at a later date. The channel will feature episodes of selected series after the initial telecast on ANIPLUS HD.

“We are always looking to expand our range of channels to give customers the widest selection to choose from. ANIPLUS HD broadens this selection with its growing catalogue of new and exciting titles direct from Japan in high definition. Besides giving customers the choice to catch the channel on their mobile devices with StarHub TV Anywhere, we will be rolling out an on-demand channel in the coming months so they can truly control how they watch their favourite anime programmes,” said Ms Lee Soo Hui, Head of Media Business Unit, StarHub.

Programming highlights in August include Terror in Resonance, Glasslip and a Knights of Sidonia marathon. Directed by legendary filmmaker Shinichirō Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo), Terror in Resonance is set in an alternate universe where Tokyo has been decimated by a terrorist attack. The perpetrators are two boys who call themselves "Sphinx." And the attack was just the beginning of the grandiose game they are playing that will envelop all of Japan.

Helmed by director Junji Nishimura (Ranma ½), Glasslip is about a high school girl Tōko’s encounter with Kakeru, a transfer student who claims that a voice from the future led him to her. His arrival sets off a series of events that will make their final summer together one full of hope and heartache. Based on the popular manga, Knights of Sidonia is directed by Kobun Shizuno (Detective Conan). The story follows the exploits of Nagate Tanikaze, who lived in the underground layer of Sidonia since birth, raised by his grandfather. Never having met anyone else, he trains himself in an old Guardian pilot simulator every day, eventually mastering it. After his grandfather's death he is found by the rest of the population and selected as a Guardian pilot, in hopes of defending Sidonia from the Gauna's attack using his outstanding combat skills.

Other mega series on ANIPLUS HD include Attack on Titan, a colossal hit series, Psycho-Pass, a story that revolves around the exploits of the Public Safety Bureau’s Criminal Investigation Division, and The Idolmaster, where the travails of 13 aspiring idols are followed as they pursue their journey to stardom.
