Singapore, 11 January 2013 – The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers, together with the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) and StarHub has finalised a deal that will see StarHub become the Official Broadcaster of the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers for the 2013 ASEAN Basketball League season.

StarHub will broadcast all Singapore Slingers home games and selected away games on its pay TV, online and mobile platforms, bringing the Slingers to an unprecedented number of Singapore households across the island. StarHub will also produce all home games for the season. Starting with this Sunday’s game against the Chang Thailand Slammers, Slingers games will be shown ‘live’ on SuperSports Arena (StarHub TV Channel 112/201); StarHub’s Internet TV service, TV Anywhere; and StarHub TV on Mobile. SuperSports Arena is a complimentary local sports channel available to over half a million StarHub TV households.

"The TV deal with StarHub should give the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers a big boost with the most comprehensive TV coverage the team has had in our six-year history in Singapore. We believe that this partnership will be good for all parties and we very much look forward to working with StarHub throughout the 2013 ASEAN Basketball League season," said Michael Johnson, General Manager of the Singapore Slingers.

“As a proud supporter of local sports, we aim to do our part by giving basketball fans in Singapore the chance to get behind the Slingers in every way possible via our TV, online and mobile platforms. As the Official Broadcaster of the country’s two leading professional local sports teams in the LionsXII and now, the Singapore Slingers, we have seen how sports fans can inspire their teams,” said Ms Iris Wee, Vice President of Home Solutions & Content, StarHub. “The Slingers are Singapore's first and only professional basketball team. With the country’s support, we are confident that the team will exceed expectations in the upcoming season.”

“We welcome this collaboration between StarHub, the Singapore Slingers and ASEAN Basketball League as it expands Singapore Slingers’ exposure here. Local sports fans will now have more opportunities to follow the Singapore Slingers and cheer them on. Singaporeans are now better placed to experience the exciting sporting journeys of their home team and players. SSC is also encouraged by StarHub’s strong commitment to sports and hope it will catalyse more involvement from Corporate Singapore. We are certain that this will translate into a strong fan base for basketball in Singapore and inspire people to live out Vision 2030 – Live Better Through Sports,” said Mr Toh Boon Yi, Chief of Strategic Development and Marketing Group, Singapore Sports Council.

The ASEAN Basketball League is the first professional regional basketball league in Southeast Asia. Established in 2009, the league’s 2013 season sees six teams participating from six different countries – Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Sanctioned by the Southeast Asian Basketball Associations (SEABA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Asia, the league holds a home-and-away playing format, where teams play each other four times in the elimination round.

"The ABL is delighted with the Slingers’ agreement with StarHub,” said Anthony Macri, Chief Executive Officer of the ASEAN Basketball League. “This relationship will give fans more access to the games and that is a great step in the ABL's growth plan."

The Singapore Slingers’ 2013 ABL campaign tips-off this Sunday 13 January, 3:00pm at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
