Widest coverage over four dedicated TV channels in HD

Access to YOG action on-the-go on StarHub mobile and online platforms

24-hour Youth Olympic News Channel for all viewers in Singapore

Singapore, 18 June 2010 – With only less than two months to go to the first-ever Youth Olympic Games (YOG) held in Singapore, StarHub, the Official Broadcaster of the Singapore 2010 YOG today announced details of its coverage of the event. StarHub will offer the widest ‘live’ coverage of the event free on its TV, mobile and broadband platforms. This includes:

  • A 24-hour Youth Olympic News Channel via StarHub’s Preview Channel, Channel 101, accessible by all viewers in Singapore;
  •  
  • Three StarHub TV channels dedicated to ‘live’ YOG event coverage in high-definition (HD); [1]
  • Three channels on StarHub TV on Mobile and two channels on StarHub TV Online dedicated to ‘live’ YOG event coverage.

StarHub TV customers may tune in to YOG 1, YOG 2 and YOG 3 (channels 241 to 243) for ‘live’ YOG event coverage, and the Youth Olympic News Channel (channel 244) for round-the-clock news reports on the games. Customers with HubStation HD, HD Interactive or HD set-top box will be able to enjoy the respective channels in full HD splendour at no additional cost via channels 245 to 248.

StarHub will broadcast ‘live’ YOG events from 14 to 26 August 2010, whereby programming will commence at 8pm on 14 August 2010 with the Opening Ceremony. Following the Closing Ceremony on 26 August 2010, YOG 1 will carry the encore telecast of the best of YOG events till 31 August 2010. [2]

StarHub Mobile post-paid customers and MaxOnline broadband customers may view StarHub’s YOG channels on-the-go on their mobile handsets and online via StarHub TV on Mobile and StarHub TV Online. StarHub Mobile post-paid customers with any 3G or 3.5G (i.e. HSPA-capable) handset can view a ‘live’ stream of YOG 1, YOG 2 and YOG 3 via StarHub TV on Mobile through the Gee! portal. For a more enhanced viewing experience, they may also download the StarHub TV on Mobile App from the Gee! portal. Users will not incur local GPRS charges when viewing the ‘live’ streaming of YOG content on their mobile phones. MaxOnline Express, MaxOnline Premium and MaxOnline Ultimate customers simply need to visit starhub.com/tvonline to access the ‘live’ feed of YOG 1 and YOG 2 on their computers.

Viewers who are not subscribed to StarHub TV may receive Youth Olympic News Channel by manually tuning their TV sets to StarHub’s Preview Channel 101 (UHF 527.25 Mhz).

The ‘live’ broadcast feeds, as well as the 24-hour Youth Olympic News Channel will be packaged by Olympic Broadcasting Services, the host broadcast subsidiary wholly owned by the International Olympic Council.
