Singapore and Indonesia, 12 March 2008 – StarHub, Singapore’s leading pay-TV operator, has sealed a deal with MNC, Indonesia’s largest media company, over the carriage of MNC - The Indonesian Channel.  The launch of MNC - The Indonesian Channel on 17 March 2008 will further augment StarHub’s position as the top pay-TV content provider in Singapore.

MNC - The Indonesian Channel is packaged by MNC, the largest television network in Indonesia.  It is a 24-hour international channel providing general entertainment in Bahasa Indonesia. Following Japan, Singapore is only the second country in the world outside of Indonesia to air the channel. The channel showcases the best programmes from top Indonesian channels RCTI (Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia), TPI (Televisi Pendidikan Indonesia) and Global TV, and viewers can look forward to news and entertainment programmes such as Indonesian sitcoms, mega sinetron (cinema electronic/ TV soap), variety shows, documentaries, music and reality shows.

“The addition of MNC - The Indonesian Channel to StarHub Digital Cable’s suite of channels is proof of our commitment to offer the most comprehensive range of TV content in Singapore.  Not only we cater to the masses, the niche audience groups are not forgotten either. In this case, we’re delighted to offer yet another quality choice to the local Indonesian and Malay communities, following the launch of Sensasi and complimentary access of TVRI,” said Patrick Lim, StarHub’s Vice President of Cable TV Services. Sensasi, Singapore’s first dedicated Malay entertainment channel, was launched in August last year and TVRI is an Indonesian channel that is currently available free to all customers using the HubStation, digital or High-Definition set-top boxes.

“MNC is delighted to partner StarHub, Singapore’s leading pay-TV operator. This partnership is a win-win for both parties as Singapore viewers can be one of the first in the world to access our quality content while MNC can reach out to a new market such as Singapore. After the launch in Singapore, we are looking at other markets such as Jeddah and Dubai,” revealed Hary Tanoe Soedibjo, Group President and CEO MNC Group.

From 17 March, StarHub Digital Cable customers can add MNC – The Indonesian Channel to their subscription packages for $8 ($8.56 with GST) monthly.  To reward the early birds and to encourage more customers to sample the quality programmes on the new channel, StarHub will offer a 50 per cent discount off the channel’s monthly subscription fee for the first three months, to all customers who sign up for MNC – The Indonesian Channel before 30 April 2008.

Existing StarHub Digital Cable customers can call 1633 to subscribe to MNC – The Indonesian Channel while new customers can call 1630 to take on a StarHub Digital Cable package.
