Singapore, 4 August 2008 From 1 September 2008, all StarHub Digital Cable customers using digital set-top box, High Definition (HD) set-top box or HubStation will receive an additional Korean channel Arirang TV (Channel 172), at no additional cost!

Arirang TV was first launched on StarHub Digital Cable in May 2004 and is being offered as a Specialty channel, at a monthly subscription of $8.56 (with GST). Following its migration to StarHubs Complimentary Tier, Arirang TV subscribers can save $102.72 a year!

Mr Patrick Lim, StarHubs Head of Cable TV Services said, "We are always looking for ways to reward our digital customers and this time round, we decided to offer Arirang TV to them free-of-charge. The addition of Arirang TV to the Complimentary Tier will offer a wider selection of programmes for viewers who are interested in Korean TV and culture."

Other channels presently offered in the Complimentary Tier include Deutsche Welle (Channel 45), TVRI (Channel 160), Australia Network (Channel 170), KBS World (Channel 173) and HD5 (Channel 300). In addition to KBS World, viewers can now enjoy more news, dramas, documentaries, lifestyle and entertainment programmes from Korea.

Some of the exciting programmes viewers can look forward to on Arirang TV include:

  • Lets Speak Korean A Korean conversation programme that teaches conversational Korean language in a lively way. Viewers can learn Korean and have fun in the process.
  • Pops in Seoul - Arirang TVs most popular music programme featuring the latest Korean pop music and information.
  • Korean Freakonomists Features the stories of people who have succeeded in business with innovative ideas and great efforts.
  • Destination Korea Look at the beauty of Korea through a Korean perspective. The programme provides a window for global audience who wish to experience the Korean Wave or Hallyu as well as to learn about the countrys beauty and unique culture.
