Having received worldwide accolades for its sports-related promos, StarHub seeks to build on these achievements as it prepares for the upcoming Barclays Premier League[1]season

Singapore, 21 June 2007 – StarHub, Singapore’s largest pay-TV operator, together with its international and regional content partners, swept a glittering haul of 49 awards at the prestigious 2007 PROMAX and BDA World Gold Awards. The Awards were presented at the 2007 PROMAX & BDA International Conference in New Yorkrecently.

StarHub and its family of channels on StarHub Digital Cable scooped an impressive total of 16 Golds, 18 Silvers, and 15 Bronzes - bearing testament to the high standards of production quality that advertisers and viewers can continue to expect from the channels’ Creative teams.

StarHub’s in-house Multimedia Solutions Unit bagged two Golds and two Silvers for its entries in PROMAX and BDA World Gold’s “Art Direction & Design: ID”, “Total Package Design: Image-All-Inclusive Combination“, and “Sports Programme Campaign Using One or More Media” categories.

“One of our goals is to raise the benchmark of creativity and effectiveness of our work, and the awards affirm the worldwide recognition from our industry peers. Most of our in-house wins are for sports-related promos, and as we prepare to take on the exciting challenges from the upcoming telecast of the Barclays Premier League on StarHub Digital Cable, we will continue to strive for even better viewer engagement and enjoyment across our multiple platforms,” said Mr Du Da Sheng, Director of StarHub’s Multimedia Solutions Unit.

One of StarHub’s wins was for its SuperSports channel ID, which received a Silver from BDA in the “Art Direction & Design: ID” category. The ID sought to portray the power and excitement of sporting action on SuperSports, and made use of a de-saturated palette and bold, lively use of yellow and blue to convey the beauty and grace of dynamic sporting movements.

Other bemedalled channels on StarHub Digital Cable include Animax, AXN, BBC Entertainment, Celestial Movies, Cinemax, Disney Channel, Discovery Channel,  ESPN, FOXCRIME, HBO, HBO Hits, MGM, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC WILD, STAR MOVIES, STAR Sports, STAR WORLD, SuperSports and Turner Classic Movies.

The PROMAX & BDA Awards are regarded as the highest accolades for professionals in the electronic and broadcast media industry. The entries submitted for the awards were judged on overall creativity, production quality, and results in achieving marketing objectives.

Promax/BDA is the worldwide association of entertainment marketers, promoters and designers, representing more than 500 television stations and all major broadcast and cable networks from the United Statesas well as more than 3,000 individual members in 70 countries. The association provides members with education, recognition and interaction through conferences, award competitions and publications as well as networking opportunities.
