Singapore, 6 February 2007 - Contending against operators and content providers around the world, StarHub's Multimedia Solutions Unit bagged a total of four World awards - two Silvers and two Bronzes, at the prestigious New York Festivals' International Television Programming & Promotion Awards 2007.
The New York Festivals' International Television Programming and Promotion Awards recognise the world's best works in news, documentary, information and entertainment programming as well as in music videos, infomercials, promotion spots, openings and IDs.
StarHub's "2006 FIFA World Cup™" entry clinched a Silver World Medal award for "Special Effects: Promotion Spot" and two Bronze World Medal awards in the "Art Direction: Promotion Spot" and "Animation (Computer): Promotion Spot" categories. The theme was conceptualised to capture the place the World Cup holds in the hearts of people around the world, and paid homage to the heroism and almost super human skills of top athletes in a graceful way. Digital wizardry was used to clothe the players in a luminous green bio-energy that represents StarHub's commitment to propel the action of the World Cup, and bring viewers closer to their football heroes.
StarHub's "2006 FIFA World Cup™" promotion campaign also garnered other awards. These include one Gold and three Silvers at 2006 Promax & BDA World Gold Awards and one Gold at 2006 Promax & BDA Asia Awards. It also was named the "Best Station ID" at 2006 Asia Image Apollo Awards.
"We are proud that our creative works are once again recognised at prestigious international platforms. This is an affirmation of our creative efforts, and we will continue to come up with innovative and eye-catching promotion spots," said Mr Du Da Sheng, Director of StarHub's Multimedia Solutions Unit.
Besides its "2006 FIFA World Cup™" promotion spots, StarHub's "VVD Passion" ID has also clinched a Silver World Medal award for "Station/Network ID". VV Drama (StarHub Channel 55), a channel wholly packaged by StarHub, brings top-rated dramas in the region to its customers, and also produces award-winning promotion spots that connect with its viewers. The same ID has also garnered a Gold and a Bronze at Promax & BDA World Gold Awards 2006. It also clinched a Finalist Certificate for "Best Visual Effects" at Asia Image Apollo Awards 2006.
