27 December 2006

Singapore, 27 December 2006 (1600 hours) - Due to an earthquake off Taiwan late last evening, the undersea cables were damaged resulting in slower Internet access. The transmission of two channels on StarHub Digital Cable - Hallmark Channel and TV5MONDE*, were down since mid-morning as well. Our overseas content partners have confirmed that the earthquake off Taiwan caused the transmission breakdowns. Viewers can continue to enjoy the other 93 channels carried on StarHub's digital platform.

Our customers can be assured that our topmost priority is to quickly restore services and we have deployed all available resources to address the situation. Since yesterday, we have started re-routing the affected traffic to other undersea cables. Our engineers have been working round-the-clock and are doing their best to rectify the matter as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. Another update will be provided as the situation improves.

(*Service resumed as at 2100 hours on 27 December 2006)
