Singapore, 3 May 2005 - StarHub today announced the appointment of Mr Robert Sachs as an independent director to its Board of Directors.

 

Mr Sachs, 56, has been an attorney and executive in the US cable television industry for over 25 years.  He is a Principal of Continental Consulting Group, LLC, (CCG) a Boston-based consulting firm serving the cable television industry. He co-founded CCG in January 1998 and served as Principal of the firm until August 1999.

 

In August 1999, he was appointed President & CEO of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) and served in that position until March 2005. NCTA is the lead trade association of the cable television industry in the US, representing cable operators, programming networks and equipment suppliers before the US government.

 

During Mr Sachs’ tenure as NCTA President & CEO, the US cable industry attained a deregulatory environment for cable broadband services and launched new services including high speed Internet access, high definition television, video-on-demand, and digital cable phone service.

 

From 1979-1998, Mr Sachs has held various senior level positions in Continental Cablevision, Inc. and its successor, MediaOne, overseeing the company's legal affairs and corporate development.

Mr Sachs began his professional career on the legislative staffs of US Senator Charles Goodell and US Representative Timothy Wirth.  From 1977-1978, he served as a full-time consultant to the White House Office of Telecommunications Policy and from 1978-1979, he was legislative counsel to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.
