Singapore, 4 July 2005 – From tomorrow, StarHub, Singapore’s integrated info-communications provider, will begin offering free Internet bandwidth to businesses subscribing to the company’s 2Mbps Internet leased line package. This means that businesses can save as much as 50% off their monthly subscription charges, compared to other standard 2Mbps Internet leased line packages available in the Singapore market. This is the first time such an offer has been introduced to businesses in Singapore.

“Business costs are increasing over the years. So we want to make sure that our services remain competitive and relevant to today's business environment,” said StarHub’s Head of Business Markets Alex Siow. “This new offer to provide free Internet bandwidth on 2Mbps corporate leased lines will add significant value to many local and international business operations by lowering their business expenses without compromising on Internet quality.”

Retailing originally at around S$2,800 per month, StarHub will now offer their 2Mbps Internet leased line package starting from about S$1,400 per month. The new package is for an 18-month contract and comes with a router, 24x7 technical hotline as well as online monitoring support. This offer is targeted at any small-medium enterprises and multi-national companies based in Singapore but only open to the first 200 new business customers. Interested parties can contact StarHub’s business hotline number: 1800-888 8888 or e-mail to business@starhub.com.

Added Mr Siow, “The growing importance of business IP convergence in Singapore means that there is substantial demand for Internet bandwidth at competitive prices. Hence, beyond this standard 2Mbps package, we are also able to tailor specific packages on other access speeds, depending on the needs of our business customers. We believe that this initiative will help drive the local corporate market, enabling data and IP services to be more accessible to business customers across the island.”

StarHub’s Internet leased line service connects any business’ local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) to the Internet directly through a dedicated connection, enabling businesses to run software on remote computers, perform large file transfers and communicate electronically. All StarHub’s Internet Services are connected to its own high-quality IP backbone with extensive regional and global coverage.
