Statement in response to M1's refutation of StarHub's launch of its global MMS service

Singapore, 6 November 2002 - StarHub stands by its announcement dated 5 November 2002 that it has taken the leadership position by being the first mobile operator in Singapore to commercially launch its global MMS service.

Given that there has not been any publicity by any local operator on the availability of the global MMS service, whether in print, or on the websites, StarHub decided to spearhead the commercial launch of its global MMS service in Singapore.  This was done via our press release on 5 November 2002.

Up to the point of us making our official announcement, M1 had not made public locally, the availability of its global MMS service, either via its website, press release or advertisements.

With respect to M1, StarHub had expended every effort and exercised due diligence in ensuring the accuracy of our announcement by:

1) Monitoring closely M1’s website (http://www.m1.com.sg) on the availability of its global MMS service, prior to our press release.

2) Calling M1’s customer service personnel on separate occasions, up to, and including the day of the StarHub Press Release, to enquire on the provision of the global MMS service.  On all occasions, their staff said they were unaware of such a service.

To date, StarHub has a total of 141 roaming destinations of which 13 are now commercially available for MMS, including USA and Australia.  (Please see list below for destinations and operators.)  Trials are underway to commercially launch our MMS roaming service in another nine destinations, which will bring the total number of operators to 39.
