Singapore, 16 February 2001 -- Mr Terry Clontz, President and CEO of StarHub Pte Ltd, is pleased to announce the appointments of Ms Poon Sew Chin and Mr Chan Kin Hung as Vice-President of its IT and Mobility divisions respectively. The appointments were effective from 2 January and 15 January 2001 respectively.

 

Sew Chin will capitalise on the latest developments in IT to support StarHub's business strategy and timely introduction of innovative products to the market. Kin Hung will be responsible for mapping out the strategic direction, marketing strategies and operations to sustain and increase StarHub's strong growth in the mobile market.

 

Sew Chin, 46, brings with her a wealth of experience ranging from consultancy to banking, gained from working in London and Singapore. She first started her career with the Commonwealth Telecommunications Bureau in London after obtaining a Degree in Computing Science from the Imperial College, UK.

 

She then moved to Singapore to work with various MNCs including American Express Bank and Tat Lee Bank. At Tat Lee Bank, Sew Chin was the Senior Vice President in charge of both IT and Systems & Methods departments.

 

Before joining StarHub, Kin Hung, 39, was previously the Managing Director of UUNET Singapore where he was tasked to build the Singapore operations from scratch. He quickly achieved a 300% growth in Internet bandwidth sales only after three months of operations and increased UUNET's Internet network bandwidth 10 times to meet the customer demand.

 

Kin Hung first started his career in various marketing positions in the Hong Kong and China operations of MNCs like Digital Equipment and Apple. He then spent 5 years in Singapore pioneering and implementing strategic and tactical sales and marketing plans to promote the mobile, narrowband and broadband internet segments.

 

Born in Hong Kong SAR, Kin Hung received a Masters in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong as well as a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
