Terms & Conditions - Vodafone Guardian

 

Please read the Terms and Conditions for Vodafone Guardian (“Vodafone Guardian Terms & Conditions”) below carefully before accessing and using the functions and services offered on the application. By clicking the “I Accept” button on the app, you represent and warrant to us that you accept the Vodafone Guardian Terms and Conditions, which are in addition to and include our Service Specific Terms & Conditions for Applications and you agree to abide by them.

  1. Vodafone Guardian
    1. “Vodafone Guardian” means an application provided by StarHub Mobile Pte Ltd (“StarHub”) and is designed to help mobile phone users block unwanted communications to their mobile phone and restrict access to the internet and other features on the phone.
  2. Eligibility
    1. Vodafone Guardian is open for download to any user who owns an Android smartphone with OS version from 2.3 to 4.3, and has an account to the relevant app-store on the smartphone. Vodafone Guardian is not supported on tablets.
  3. Use of Vodafone Guardian
    1. Vodafone Guardian’s “I Do Not Accept” blocking function is provided only as a support for the user concerned. You acknowledge that Vodafone Guardian is not proposed as a solution to control anti-social activities such as harassment or bullying and will not block all harassing or bullying messages. StarHub recommends that you contact the relevant authorities in any instances of suspected harassment or bullying.
    2. Vodafone Guardian does not prevent callers accessing a voicemail account.
    3. Vodafone Guardian does not block premium rate services text messages. However, for users on StarHub mobile network, they can configure Vodafone Guardian to unsubscribe automatically from premium text messages by sending a text message “BARSTARHUBPRS” to the number 6757. This automatic unsubscribe facility is not available to users on other mobile networks.
    4. In the case of an emergency, user may press the ‘Emergency Override’ button and a text notification will be sent to the parent or Vodafone Guardian user and  Vodafone Guardian will be deactivated temporarily for a period no longer than 15 minutes. User may subsequently reactivate Vodafone Guardian by resetting his/her mobile phone.
    5. In the event that a user receives a blocked message, it shall be inserted by Vodafone Guardian into a marked archive. This archive should not be accessed unless considered necessary. In the event that a user ‘unblocks’ a previously blocked number, all text messages which have been sent from that number in the preceding 30 days will be delivered to the user inbox.         
    6. Where parents or Vodafone Guardians wish to apply Vodafone Guardian to their child’s mobile phone, they may set up a Vodafone Guardian number and password to cover various functions. This extends to controlling their child’s access to Vodafone Guardian’s archive of blocked messages. You are responsible for keeping your password safe.
    7. Parents or Vodafone Guardians should note that a child may disable Vodafone Guardian at any stage. If so disabled, Vodafone Guardian will send a text notification to the listed parent/Vodafone Guardian number.
    8. You must not edit, modify, copy, reverse engineer, decompile or otherwise tamper with Vodafone Guardian.
    9. You will be charged for any text messages sent by the app at the standard SMS rate in accordance with your mobile plan. The app is free to download on any of the mobile networks in Singapore, but data charges may apply. Please check your mobile plan for details of these charges.
    10. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Vodafone Guardian for personal (and not business) use only subject to your compliance with these terms. We may add or withdraw features from time to time.
    11. You will not have any right to Vodafone Guardian apart from the right to use The Vodafone Guardian in accordance with these terms.
    12. Vodafone Guardian is provided on an entirely "as-is" basis and without warranty of any kind. Responsibility for the use of Vodafone Guardian is strictly and solely that of a user. Unless stated in these terms, StarHub shall not be liable for any loss or damage, howsoever caused, in connection with any download or use of Vodafone Guardian.
  4. Use of Customer Information
    1. You acknowledge that we may collect, disclose and/or otherwise use any information relating to you, and any access to and use of the Vodafone Guardian by you as provided by you or obtained by us in the course of and as a result of the provision of the Vodafone Guardian to you, for the following purposes:
      1. for the provision of Vodafone Guardian and its features, functionalities and services; preventing fraud; rendering assistance to law enforcement, judicial, governmental or regulatory agencies; and complying with any regulatory requirements;           
      2. for purposes of enhancing your user experience, in particular the following:
        1. understanding your usage, app settings and device type preferences, and determining customer location, preferences and demographics, and conducting market research, for us to review, develop and improve our products and services and also develop special offers and marketing programmes;
        2. sending you details of products, services, special offers and rewards, which are offered to our customers generally, or which may be of interest to you, via SMS, email, post or such other mode of communication as StarHub deems appropriate;
        3. providing services, products and benefits to you, including promotions, loyalty and reward programmes from our partners;
        4. administering contests and competitions; and
      3. such other purposes as may be consented by you from time to time.
  5. Amendments
    1. You agree that we may amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time. We endeavour, where reasonably practicable, to give you reasonable advance notice of such changes. We will notify you of such changes through written notice, electronic mail, our bill, our website or such other form as we may deem appropriate. You agree that the display of the revised Terms & Conditions on our website will constitute notice of the changes. Your continued use of Vodafone Guardian will constitute acceptance of the changes and these Terms & Conditions.
