Terms & Conditions - JuniorProtect Plus

 

For Mobile:

 

  1. Eligibility
    1. The JuniorProtect (Plus) value-added service (“Service”) is available for subscription by StarHub Mobile postpaid customers with a billing account except for customers holding the Blackberry Mobile Plans and/or Blackberry Mobile Data Pack Plans ("Customer").
    2. The Service is not available for pre-paid customers and StarHub’s business or corporate account (BRN) customers.
    3. The Service is only available to mobile lines under the same billing account of a Customer.
  2. Charges
    1. The monthly subscription charge for the Service is S$5.35 (inclusive of GST) per mobile line activated to receive the Service ("Selected Mobile Line").
    2. If a Customer subscribes for the Service for more than 1 mobile line, each Selected Mobile Line will be charged for the Service.
  3. Content Filtering
    1. Content filtering will be activated for the Selected Mobile Line based on a default setting categorised by StarHub ("Restricted Content"). StarHub shall not be responsible for the adequacy or otherwise of the Restricted Content to meet the Customer's individual needs.
    2. The Customer is encouraged to review and modify the Restricted Content according to the individual needs of the Customer . The Customer can manage/modify the Restricted Contents via starhub.com/juniorprotect.
    3. Limitation of Content Filtering Feature
      1. The Service will not filter content for any traffic bypassing StarHub's mobile network, including without limitation
        1. Content that does not pass through StarHub’s mobile, cable or fibre broadband network;
        2. Content accessed over public Wi-fi network or Wi-fi on other networks;
        3. Content accessed via a device with static Internet Protocol address; or
        4. Content accessed via a device on a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
      2. The Service will not filter access to the content or applications that have already been downloaded on the mobile or tablet device prior to the commencement of the Service.
      3. The Service will not be 100% accurate and hence not a substitute for adult supervision. StarHub makes no warranty or representation that the Service is accurate, will filter out all inappropriate content, or that it is fit for the purpose.
      4. StarHub may at any time, without notice or liability to the Customer, restrict the use of the Service or limit its availability in order to perform maintenance activities for the Service.
  4. Location Tracking
    1. The Service entails tracking of the location/whereabouts including footprint trail (e.g. history of locations in the past one week) and last known location of the Selected Mobile Line. The Customer consents to StarHub collecting, using and retaining such data as part of the Service provisioning.
    2. The location-tracking feature will be available 24 hours/one working day after successful activation of the Service.
    3. In the event that the Service is terminated, all locations and footprint trail data of the Selected Mobile Line will be permanently erased.
    4. Limitation of Location Tracking Feature
      1. The Service's location-tracking feature is not real-time and will be subject to a time lapse of 30 minutes or longer. The feature will not be 100% precise as the location accuracy is dependent on various factors such as the access points and/or location of the cell towers/base stations that the Selected Mobile Line is connected to.
      2. The Customer's location will be unknown if the Selected Mobile Line is on public Wi-Fi network or Wi-Fi on other networks.
      3. The Service's location trail feature will only show past data of up to 7 days.
  5. Turn on/off Mobile Data Access
    1. The Customer will be able to turn on/ off mobile data access of the Selected Mobile Line under the same Hub iD via StarHub My Account Manager.
    2. If the Customer turns off mobile data, the Customer acknowledges that both 3G and 4G mobile data (local & roaming) will be completely turned off for the Selected Mobile Line and that internet connectivity will only be available via Wi-Fi.
  6. Subscription to SMS & E-mail Alerts
    1. If the Customer turns on the subscription alert feature, the Customer will receive SMS and/or e-mail notification alerts on the mobile line or Hub iD e-mail address chosen by the Customer to receive such alerts if any attempt is made by the Selected Mobile Line user to access the Restricted Content.
    2. The Customer can manage/modify the subscription/notification alert settings via starhub.com/juniorprotect.
  7. Activity Reports
    1. The Customer will be able to view activity reports based on the selections available for such data. StarHub reserves the right to change these features without any notification to the Customer.
    2. In the event that the Service is terminated, all activity reports data of the Selected Mobile Line will be permanently erased.
  8. Termination
    1. StarHub has the right to terminate the Service immediately and without any liability to the Customer for any loss or damages (including loss of data) if:
      1. the Customer terminates the Selected Mobile Line that has a subscription attached to it;
      2. the Customer ports out the Selected Mobile Line; or
      3. the Customer is in breach of these terms and conditions or any applicable StarHub terms and conditions (including StarHub Consumer General Terms and Conditions and any Specific Terms and Conditions applicable to Mobile services).
    2. StarHub reserves the right to terminate or discontinue the Service by posting on its website. StarHub shall not be responsible to the Customer for any loss of data or other loss or damages arising from the termination of the Service by StarHub.
  9. Limitation of Liability and Indemnity
    1. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis and the Customer agrees that the use of the Services is at his sole risk. StarHub expressly disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, and fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent allowed by law. No advice or information whether oral or written, obtained by the Customer from StarHub or through the Service will create any warranty not expressly set out in this Agreement
    2. StarHub will not be liable for any interruption, disruption to or deterioration in the quality, reliability or accuracy of the Service or for any technical issue that may arise by reason of the Customer's use or inability to use the Service.
    3. The Customer agrees to fully indemnify StarHub for all claims, damages, losses and liabilities arising from information provided by the Customer for the purpose of registration for the Service, the use of the Service (whether by the Customer or any other person) and any negligence, omission, act or breach of these terms & conditions.
  10. General
    1. The use of this Service is subject to StarHub's Consumer General Terms and Conditions, the Specific Terms and Conditions for Mobile Data Services, these terms and conditions and any other terms and conditions in relation to the services that the Customer has subscribed from time to time.
    2. StarHub reserves the right to amend all applicable terms and conditions, including charges at any time. All amendments shall be posted on StarHub's website and shall take effect from the date that they are posted.

 

For Broadband:

 

  1. Eligibility
    1. You would be eligible to apply for the Junior Protect (Plus) value-added service ("Service") if you are:
      1. a subscriber of the StarHub Cable Home Broadband and/or the Fibre Home Broadband services ("the Home Broadband Services"); and
      2. at least 18 years old.
    2. If you have subscribed to more than one Home Broadband Service, you would have to apply for a different Service for each Home Broadband Service, but any Service may be accessed on an unlimited number of devices.
    3. In order to continue enjoying the Service, the relevant Home Broadband Service under which you had applied for the Service, must be active, and not terminated or suspended.
  2. Charges
    1. The applicable monthly subscription charge for the Service is S$5.35 (inclusive of GST).
    2. If you have more than one Home Broadband Service, you will be charged separately for each Service that you had signed up for in relation to each respective Home Broadband Service.
  3. Content Filtering
    1. Under the Service, filtering of Content will be activated based on a default setting which is categorised by us, at our discretion. We may, from time to time, change or make adjustments to the default setting without reference or notice to you.
    2. Apart from the default settings, there are content filtering options which you may select and you are encouraged to review and modify such content filtering categories according to your own needs, or that of the users of the relevant Home Broadband Service (as may be applicable) (“Restricted Content”). You can manage and/or modify the content settings from time to time via the website: https://juniorprotect.starhub.com/.
  4. Limitation of Service
    1. The Service will not filter Content from any traffic that bypasses our Network, including without limitation Content:
      1. that does not pass through StarHub’s cable or fibre broadband network;
      2. accessed over public Wi-fi network or Wi-fi on other networks;
      3. accessed via a device with static Internet Protocol address; or
      4. accessed via a device on a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
    2. The Service will only support and filter Content on "http" and "https" protocols. Content on WML, RTSP and other protocols will not be supported by this Service for content filtering.
    3. The Service will not filter access to any Content or applications that have already been downloaded on the end-user device prior to the commencement of the Service.
    4. The Service is not 100% accurate and hence is not a substitute for adult supervision. StarHub makes no warranty or representation that the Service is accurate, will filter out all inappropriate content, or that it is fit for the purpose.
    5. We may at any time, without notice or liability to you, restrict the use of the Service or limit its availability in order to perform maintenance activities for the Service.
  5. Subscription to SMS & E-mail Alerts
    1. If you turn on the subscription alert feature, you will receive SMS and/or e-mail notification alerts on a mobile line and/or Hub iD e-mail address chosen by you to receive such alerts if any attempt is made by a user to access Restricted Content.

  6. Activity Reports
    1. You will be able to view activity reports based on the selections available for such data. We reserve the right to change these features without any notification to you.
    2. In the event that the Service is terminated, all activity report data for the subscribed Home Broadband Service will be permanently erased.
  7. Termination
    1. We may terminate the Service immediately by way of written notice and without any liability to you for any loss or damages suffered (including loss of data) as a result of such termination if you:
      1. terminate the relevant Home Broadband Service to which your subscription for the Service is attached; or
      2. are in breach of these terms and conditions or any applicable StarHub terms and conditions (including StarHub Consumer General Terms and Conditions and any Service Specific Terms and Conditions).
  8. Limitation of Liability and Indemnity
    1. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis and you agree that the use of the Services is at your sole risk. We expressly disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, and fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent allowed by law. No advice or information whether oral or written, obtained by you from us or through the Service will create any warranty not expressly set out in this Agreement.
    2. We will not be liable for any interruption, disruption to or deterioration in the quality, reliability or accuracy of the Service or the related Home Broadband Service or for any issue that may arise by reason of your use or inability to use the Service or the related Home Broadband Service.
    3. You agree to fully indemnify us against all claims, damages, losses and liabilities arising from information provided by you for the purpose of registration for the Service, the use of the Service (whether by yourself or any other person) and any negligence, omission, act or breach of any applicable StarHub terms & conditions.
  9. General
    1. The use of the Service is subject to StarHub's Consumer General Terms & Conditions, the Service Specific Terms and Conditions applicable to Home Broadband Services and any other applicable terms and conditions, as same may be amended from time to time.
